Most customers read only the first few reviews on a product page. Smart review sorting uses AI to find the reviews most likely to convince them, and puts those at the top of your Product Reviews Widget. Instead of sorting by date or rating alone, it ranks each review on media quality, authenticity, clarity, and how well it helps other customers decide.

How does smart review sorting work?
Smart sorting uses AI to evaluate each review and calculate a score based on quality, authenticity, and usefulness signals. Key factors include:
- Media clarity: good lighting, sharp focus, natural colors, no heavy filters
- Product visibility: the product is clearly seen, centered, and easy to identify
- Authenticity: genuine customer feedback
- Real people and moments: humans or pets interacting naturally with the product, visible faces, relatable or emotional moments
- Relevance: reviews that match the product name and category
- Helpfulness for other customers: demonstrates product use, before or after results
Note: Smart visual sorting is not available for imported reviews - only for reviews collected natively via Loox.
How to enable smart review sorting
Smart review sorting is the default sorting type for merchants on the Convert plan. To change your sorting type:
- In your Loox admin, go to Widgets > Product Reviews Widget.
- Under Preferences, select your preferred sorting option.
- Click Save.

A: Yes. You can change your sorting type anytime from your Product Reviews Widget editor.
Q: Do videos always outrank photos?
A: No. Videos receive a base boost, but a clear, relevant photo can outrank a low-quality video.
Q: Which widgets does smart review sorting affect?
A: Only the Product Reviews Widget. Your other widgets keep their existing logic and review order.
Q: What happens if I change the cover photo on a review with several photos?
A: Smart sorting scores the review again using the new cover photo.
